THE COVER STAR! 1968 CHEVROLET CAMARO
Big block power, big expectations, and one hell of a journey
Adding his name to the long list of previous caretakers, Warwick Garth certainly has big shoes to fill, but he assures us he’s well and truly up to the task of keeping the spirit of this Camaro alive.
PINK PASSION - 1970 PLYMOUTH CUDA AAR & 1972 PLYMOUTH COUPE
Chrysler were the automotive innovators of the ’70s, leading the scene with cars of eye-catching colours with memorable names. Cathy Willemsen is bringing back that era
With colour names such as Plum Crazy, Go Mango, Sublime Green, and Green Go, the marketing team at Chrysler was anything but boring. While they used different names for the same colours across their Dodge and Plymouth divisions, there’s one colour that perhaps sticks out from the pack — Pink Panther — which in the Plymouth line was known as Moulin Rouge. Whichever way you look at it, it’s eye-searing pink, and Taranaki’s Cathy Willemsen is in love with it.
ONE TO RULE THEM ALL - 1963 CHEV CORVETTE C2
Cleopatra was once the most powerful woman in the world, Gary and Jo-Anne Crook’s Corvette that goes by the same name has plenty in common with her
Most people who know Gary and Jo-Anne Crook know them as die hard Holden people, but more than that, they are amazingly dedicated to their family; sons Dion and Aidan and in recent years a collection of grand kids. But, under the deep love of family and Holdens, Gary’s dream car is actually a 1963 Corvette, and he’s very lucky that Jo-Anne doesn’t mind them either. There’s a long story of how their journey with this particular car – now known as Cleopatra – came to be in their lives, but for that we need to remind way back to a time when Dion (now aged 33) and Aidan (now aged 30) were just little nippers
RAT SALAD - 1956 FORD PREFECT 100E
Blending a classic English 1950’s silhouette, rat rod build inspiration and enough engine setback to make a saloon car look twice the Andrews family nailed an inspiring look that is not often accomplished.
Karen Andrews and her family are no strangers in the pages of NZV8. Karen’s Windsor V8 powered 1956 Ford Prefect being the fourth car from the family to feature between the covers. Three cars were built in various Ford assembly plants around the globe and the other a pretty cool Ford GT40 replica kit car. Saying the Andrews is an all Ford family is an understatement, even the company cars of the family business wear the blue oval badge.
