Exciting times for Super Saloon class

2 November 2016

The hugely popular Burger King Pro Dirt series is making a comeback for the 2016–’17 speedway season, and it’s set to be the biggest and best yet. The series includes eight rounds spanning Christchurch to Auckland and everywhere in between.

Defending champion Chris Cowling will have his work cut out for him as he goes up against other crowd favourites such as Mark Osborne, Steve Flynn, and queen of the clay, Kristin Vermeulen, amongst 21 other drivers all fighting it out in 800hp V8-powered machines.

Round one kicks off at Baypark Family Speedway on November 5, followed by round two on November 18 at Woodford Glen Speedway, Christchurch. Round three sees the series move to Waikaraka Park, Auckland, on November 26, before round four takes place at Hauraki Meeanee Speedway, Hawke’s Bay, just one week later on December 2. Robertson Holden International Speedway, Palmerston North, hosts rounds five and six on December 3 and February 15, with the semi-final at Huntly on February 18 and the grand finale at Max Motors Speedway, Wellington, on March 18.

Each round sees drivers compete in three races, including a top-eight pole shuffle and 20-car feature race, which is guaranteed to have the crowds on their feet. For more info, search ‘Burger King Pro Dirt Super Saloon series’ on your local speedway site.
