Have your mind blown by the NSRA Street Rod Nats

28 October 2016

They say that everything’s bigger in America — with 11,000 cars, it’s fair to say that the NSRA Street Rod Nationals, held in Kentucky, is the biggest of the big!

We’ve got a full rundown on the event in the December 2016 issue of NZV8 (Issue No. 139), on sale Monday, October 31, but with so many amazing cars on display there was no way we could ever do it justice in just a few pages. So make sure to have a good look at our gallery below for all the pictures that we couldn’t fit into print.

The event was first held in Illinois back in 1970, and it rotated among several cities in the ’80s and ’90s. However, Louisville, Kentucky, which is also the home of Muhammad Ali and KFC, has been the location for the Nats for the past 20 years, where the event is held at the impressive Kentucky Exposition Center.

It’s the type of event that’s almost impossible to describe, as you really have to experience it to be able to comprehend the sheer size of it.

Due to its location, the cars on display are vastly different from what you find on the more commonly visited (by Kiwis) West Coast events such as Pleasanton or the LA Roadster Show.

The East Coast car builders throw all the rules out the window building cars to their own style, which can be outrageously wild or just plain head-scratchingly weird. Take a look at NZV8 Issue No. 139, available from October 31, for the full rundown.
