Over the years we’ve featured some amazing cars in NZV8 magazine, and with our next issue being our 10th Birthday Special, we decided to try and pick some favourites from the archives. Of course with so many cars to choose from it wasn’t easy to get a consensus, but below is what we here in the office voted as our favorite car from the third year and fourth year of the magazine.

2007–2008: show stopper (Issue No. 36 — back issue not available)
1965 Chevrolet Impala (Bruce Fuller)
Chip Foose and custom cars go hand in hand. It was from one of the episodes of Foose’s Overhaulin’ TV series that Bruce Fuller drew inspiration to build what is one of the biggest-impact Impalas we’ve seen in New Zealand. The Impala sits at a (literally) ground-scraping height on airbags, over huge 20-inch Foose rims. The cowl-induction scoop covers 462ci of big block Chev, backed by a four-speed Muncie. The simple recipe has yielded one of the most incredible looking cars we’ve ever featured.
2008–2009: star struck (Issue No. 40 — back issue available here)
1963 Ford Galaxie (Mike Kitson)
Mike Kitson’s 1963 Ford Galaxie has nailed the art of understatement. From its deep-black paintwork and plush, red interior, through to its perfect stance on 18-inch Boyd Coddington rims, ‘EZPEEL’ is an immaculate, and incredibly subtle car. The 514ci big block Ford engine is aided by a pair of blue bottles in the well-upholstered boot, allowing the comfortable, street-legal behemoth to blast down the quarter mile in the low ten-second zone, at over 130mph. Despite the Galaxie’s lack of bling, its presentation is so good that it netted it the People’s Choice award at its first-ever Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival back in 2008.
